M\u00e4kel\u00e4 Alu will participate in the UN COP31 Climate Conference, taking place in Antalya, T\u00fcrkiye, from 9 to 20 November 2026. We will be part of the Finland Pavilion, where Finnish companies and other organisations will showcase their climate solutions and meet business representatives and decision-makers from around the world.<\/p>\n
M\u00e4kel\u00e4 Alu will share practical experiences of reducing emissions in industrial production. We will highlight measures such as the electrification of production, improvements in energy efficiency and aluminium recycling. We have been working on these areas for many years, and in 2025, we achieved net-zero emissions in our own production and internal logistics.<\/p>\n
Our participation aims to raise international awareness of M\u00e4kel\u00e4 Alu and our expertise, establish new partnerships and bring an industrial perspective to climate discussions.<\/p>\n
We particularly want to highlight the importance of voluntary emissions reductions and how companies can be encouraged to invest in lower-carbon production. Investments in emissions reductions should also be reflected in companies’ competitiveness and customers’ purchasing decisions.<\/p>\n
COP31 will also provide an opportunity to learn from other organisations’ experiences and explore new ideas for developing our own operations.<\/p>\n
