Mäkelä Alu’s old OHSAS 18 001 occupational health and safety management system was upgraded to a new ISO 45 001 standard-compliant system in October.
The new ISO 45 001 standard defines the internationally accepted operating models for the continuous improvement of workers’ health and safety in the workplace, the assessment and reduction of occupational risks, the creation of healthier and safer working conditions, and the prevention of work-related accidents and illnesses.
Compared to the old OHSAS standard, the new ISO 45 001 standard places more emphasis on, among other things, the commitment of senior management and the involvement of employees in occupational health and safety matters, as well as greater consideration of the requirements of major stakeholders and risk management.
